The Venetian ghetto is the centre of Jewish life in the city. There are five synagogues: the Scuola Grande Tedesca, the Scuola Italiana, the Scuola Spagnola, the Scuola Levantina and the Scuola Canton. Today, there are also other Ashkenazic Jews in Venice, mainly Lubavitchers who operate a kosher food store, a yeshiva, and Chabad synagogue.

The orthodox Jewish ceremony produces civil effects if it takes place in a Synagogue, performed by an Italian rabbi after official permission given by the couple’s Rabbi.

You can choose to have an outdoor ceremony in a Venetian palazzo, or on a terrace facing the lagoon, performed by a Reform Rabbi or by the couple’s Rabbi.
